Why are some people so obsessed as to what religion Obama is or is not?

Does this not show how religion does play a huge factor in deciding who takes office.

Because they’re desperately trying to find something to hassle and hang him with. Republicans realize that they don’t stand a chance. It also shows how some people are so desperate to keep religion involved in politics even though there is supposedly the separation of church and state. Maybe it’s time to get strong and take a stand. Here’s a great vid on how to gain muscle fast.

    Yes it does. weve been saying it does, espically when the people that attacked us on 911 are muslim. specialy since the people wer efighting with, are muslim. why would we want a muslim president in charge of the brave men and women that protect our freedoms from people like radical muslims?

    In America yes definitely. The majority of Americans are Evangelical Christians, some estimations even have it at 70%. You’d get the same result trying to get a Christian to be president of Saudi Arabia, only much worse. Ideology is of the highest importance to us religious, which is a flawed characteristic admittedly.

    Religion plays no role in the EU though, almost everyone is atheist or agnostic. Even Italy has seen a record drop in Catholic numbers in recent years.

    Because a lot of people want to believe this is an election of absolute good vs. absolute evil and, in a similar vein of intellectual laziness, they are defining good by Christian and evil by Muslim.

    Also, they think if Obama’s *really* a Muslim, that means he’s a sneaky liar with an unspoken agenda… so basically, the obsession feeds the conspiracy theory.

    well if obama is a muslim ppl assume muslim means terrorist many ppl have that mentatilty however the religion of islam is actually against terroriosm and if obama is a muslim they will think they are electing a terrorist into the while house the idea that he may have a muslim backround scares ppl

    obama is christain. his father was born to muslim africans but but his father was an atheist. people are obsessed about this because they think if obamas muslim he might help the middle east in war, which is bad for us. but i would love it if obamas muslim, cause it would be nice to have at least 1 muslim president, cause im muslim too.

    Some people are very concerned because even though religion should not play too big a role in the process, they are afraid that we may end up with someone who’s very radical and that’ll be bad. Anyway, if Obama has nothing to `hide,’, the problem will go away.
