How did you feel before and after Obama speech?
April 26th, 2010 | by admin |To let you know, I’m for Obama and thought it was silly how some people where acting over this speech.
I don’t have a problem with him telling kids they need to try to do good in school. One of the things he said is, you can’t drop out of school and expect to be handed a good job. A lot of the kids in the inner city schools don’t care about education. My wife is a teacher at an inner city elementary school. She said that even at an early age, a lot of the inner city kids are out of control. They don’t respect the teachers and don’t even try to learn. Teachers in these schools have a hard time because they aren’t allowed to discipline the kids at all other than sending them to the principles office. And a lot of the parents get mad at the teachers if they dare say anything bad about their kids. Hopefully since this speech was coming from a president who happens to be a minority, some of these kids will listen. I’m not really sure why so many people were upset about the speech. President Reagan and the 1st Bush both gave speeches to school children.
For some bizarre reason I wanted to cook after hearing the speech. Maybe some kind of subliminal suggestion?
I just wanted to pull out my KitchenAid artisan 5 qt stand mixer and start cookin up a storm!

Im not rly "pro-obama", when it comes down to it, hes a socialist through and through, but the message was good today, no political swaying (good). Just some good ol motivation.

The same. He told the kids the truth. To bad he is still in favor of letting the teachers unions run and ruin the public schools. And is cutting funds for school choice, where inner city kids can actually have the choice of a good education by leaving the failing public schools.

Well, I happened to be there(im a wakefield student) and it was a great speech. not only because he was there at wakefield, but because it was such a good message.
I did get to ask him a question.
I dont know if anyone has heard, but I "got personal" with the president.
Thanks Rob, totally true.

Well, I didn’t get to watch it in school because I live in a red state where apparently people think it’s ok to keep children home during a presidential address. So I couldn’t tell you.

You had a good question for him Brandon. I lost my father when I was 12. He seemed to answer it as I would have. Especially, "On the other hand, I think that not having a dad in some ways forced me to grow up faster. It meant that I made more mistakes because I didn’t have somebody to tell me, here’s how you do this or here’s how you do that. But on the other hand, I had to, I think, raise myself a little bit more."

I’m not a big fan of obama, but i still respect him as our president. i liked the speech, it was a good way of starting the school year. he said nothing political, just be responsible for your school work. i live in a very republic state who hates obama, but i don’t think we should hate him because he is our president and the one of the only to visit my state. he visited it when he was running for the president.
